Imre Égerházi painter was born in 1925. He would have been 100 years old next year. The centenary commemoration series begins in Debrecen with the exhibition of his life’s work, Sheafs are Dancing, at Modemart. The exhibition will open on 7 December 2024 at 16:00 and will be open until 12 January 2025.
The gallery will feature over one hundred and twenty oil paintings, monotypes, linocuts and drawings.
In a separate room, nine works painted by Imre Égerházi based on his clinical death experiences will be on display, which have never been exhibited together in this way before.
The creators of the exhibition have also added audiovisual presentations to this series of paintings, where an animated film of the works will be shown.
This will be complemented by a short film, The Story of my Heart Attack by Imre Égerházi, in which tell the story in detail about his experiences.
The curator of the exhibition, Balázs Feledy, together with Attila Égerházi, has put together the exhibition in such a way that visitors can learn about all the artist’s major creative periods, his technique and his significant choice of subject matter.
Opening programme:
Welcome speeches by Dr. László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen and Kata Vizi, Director of MODEM, followed by a presentation of Imre Égerházi’s work by Balázs Feledy, art writer, and a subjective guided tour with music by Attila Égerházi, leader of the Djabe.
